Metaplectic geometrical optics for modeling caustics in uniform and non-uniform media

چکیده
Abstract As an approximate theory that is highly regarded for its computational efficiency, geometrical optics (GO) widely used modeling waves in various areas of physics. However, GO fails at caustics, which significantly limits applicability. A new framework, called metaplectic (MGO), has recently been developed allows caustics certain types to be modeled accurately within the framework. Here, we extend MGO most general case. To illustrate our theory, also apply it several sample problems, including calculations two-dimensional wavefields near fold and cusp caustics. In contrast with traditional solutions, corresponding solutions are finite everywhere true wavefield well these

Transport Property Estimation of Non-Uniform Porous Media
In this work a glass micromodel which its grains and pores are non-uniform in size, shape and distribution is considered as porous medium. A two-dimensional random network model of micromodel with non-uniform pores has been constructed. The non-uniformity of porous model is achieved by assigning parametric distribution functions to pores throat and pores length, which was measured using ima...
متن کاملShock dynamics in non-uniform media
The theory of shock dynamics in two dimensions is reformulated to treat shock propagation in a non-uniform medium. The analysis yields a system of hyperbolic equations with source terms representing the generation of disturbances on the shock wave as it propagates into the fluid non-uniformities. The theory is applied to problems involving the refraction of a plane shock wave at a free plane ga...

This research has been carried out to determine the marine propeller hydro-acoustic characteristics by Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) solver in both uniform and non-uniform wake flow at different operating conditions Wake flow can cause changes in pressure fluctuation and gas effect on propeller noise spectrum. Noise is generated by the induced trailing vortex wake and induced pressure ...
متن کاملUniform connectedness and uniform local connectedness for lattice-valued uniform convergence spaces
We apply Preuss' concept of $mbbe$-connectedness to the categories of lattice-valued uniform convergence spaces and of lattice-valued uniform spaces. A space is uniformly $mbbe$-connected if the only uniformly continuous mappings from the space to a space in the class $mbbe$ are the constant mappings. We develop the basic theory for $mbbe$-connected sets, including the product theorem. Furtherm...

In most cases, a surface is not ideally smooth. It rather contains regular and irregular dents, bumps and other textures that influence the reflection of the incident wave. A reflection on such a corrugated surface causes a frequency-dependent redirection of the incident sound energy outside the specular direction, called scattering. While the computation of the specular part is well elaborated...
